Privacy policy
Prove Them Wrong (“we”) runs this website to help Texans vote in the November 3, 2026 general election and to organize volunteers. This policy explains what we collect and what we do with it.
What we collect
- Signup information you give us: name, email, mobile phone (optional), street address, city, ZIP code, county, precinct, your voting plan (method, day, time, location), your Bring 5 pledge, and how you want to volunteer.
- Consent records: whether you agreed to emails and to calls and texts, the exact consent wording you saw, the time, your IP address, and your browser type. We keep these to prove consent under the federal Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).
- Address lookups: addresses typed into the homepage lookup are sent to the U.S. Census Bureau geocoder (and, if enabled, the Google Civic Information API) to find your districts and polling places. We do not store lookup addresses.
- Basic server logs kept by our hosting provider for security and troubleshooting.
How we use it
- Send the voting reminders you asked for, and campaign and volunteer updates.
- Connect you with volunteer work in your precinct and county.
- Show totals only (never names) on public county and precinct pages.
- Compare signups against the public early voting rosters that Texas counties publish under Texas Election Code section 87.121, so we stop reminding people who have already voted.
- Match against voter registration records to confirm precinct assignments.
Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with (a) service providers who run the site for us (hosting, database, and email delivery) under confidentiality obligations; (b) volunteer leaders and allied campaigns or party organizations working to turn out voters in your area, for the same get-out-the-vote purposes; and (c) authorities when the law requires it. We never share your phone number or text consent with third parties for their own marketing.
Your choices
- Email: use the unsubscribe link in any email.
- Texts: reply STOP to any message. Reply HELP for help.
- Access or deletion: email michael.hojnacki@gmail.com and we will send you your data or delete it. We may keep a minimal record of your opt-out so we don't contact you again.
Security and retention
Data is stored in an access-controlled database with encryption in transit and at rest. Only authorized administrators can see individual records. We keep signup data through the end of the 2026 election cycle and then delete or anonymize it unless you ask to stay involved.
Children
This site is for voters and volunteers 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 13.
Changes and contact
We'll post changes here with a new effective date. Questions: michael.hojnacki@gmail.com.
